Houston Agri-Power: Seeds of Jim Farm Intern Program
Houston Agri-Power (HAP) is a collaboration of four urban farms in Houston that believe in growing healthy food to provide to healthy communities. Under the supervision of our trainers, the intern is mentored in the practical skills and philosophy of regenerative agriculture and urban farming & food production.

QUALIFICATION SKILLS
- Able to work independently or on a small team
- Strong ability to do desktop business research and analysis
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and internet research
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with teams
- Excellent communication skills
- Hard-working, organized and strong sense of responsibility
- Willing to literally get your hands dirty

The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating various aspects of the grant, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and regulations, particularly those pertaining to EJ issues.
DUTIES:
- Support the preparation of Project Management Plan
- Coordinate events and dates with collaborative partners
- Schedule and facilitate meetings with collective partners
- Support quarterly progress reports
- Track progress of grant and manage deadlines for the project
- Manage the bidding process for purchases related to grant-funded projects
- Work closely with program managers to identify procurement needs and ensure alignment with grant objectives
- Coordinate the preparation and submission of bids or proposals, following grant requirements
- Ensure that all procurement activities adhere to the specific guidelines and regulations outlined in the grant agreement
- Collaborate with the finance team to integrate procurement activities into the overall grant budget
- Monitor and track expenditures related to purchases, ensuring they stay within the approved budget
- Engage with vendors during the bidding process, addressing inquiries, and providing necessary information
- Evaluate vendor proposals and negotiate terms to secure agreements that align with grant objectives
- Communicate effectively with program managers, executive leadership, and other stakeholders regarding procurement activities
- Provide regular reports on procurement status, ensuring transparency and accountability
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Environmental Science, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Proven experience in grant administration, project management, and procurement processes, with a focus on Environmental Justice initiatives
- Strong understanding of Environmental Justice principles and EPA regulations
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to advocate for marginalized communities
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
