About BUFTXBUFTX is an administrative, programmatic and fiscally responsible proactive institution. Since 1987 we have served as a major anchor for supporting and developing funding initiatives that facilitate the positive growth and development in under served communities. We create educational programs and provide necessary resources in underprivileged areas that spur individual and community change. We believe in smart fund allocation, and therefore we employ minimal staff. |
Our WorkOur programming is focused into one of eight areas:
|
Program HighlightOn November 5, we kicked off our Houston Agri-Power project funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Justice Grant by hosting Texas Arbor Day with our partners the City of Houston, Houston Wilderness, Community Lattice, Nature Heritage Society, and Seeds of the Soil. We planted 125 trees, a mix of fruit bearing trees and supertrees, to create our Phoenix Food Forest. The fruit trees will be used to share fresh fruit with community members and the supertrees help with soil remediation and capturing greenhouse gasses. A special thank you to Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, State Representatives Jarvis Johnson and Ron Reynolds for being a part of this effort. |
Agency Highlight
We partner with other nonprofits to help them serve their respective communities. Check out an agency spotlight below… The American Cowboy Museum is a twenty-one-year-old 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that educates people far and wide about the contributions of African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Women to the development of the American Western culture. Below is a video we did for our #VirtualAgCamp focusing on the Taylor-Stevenson Ranch with Broadcast Houston & Oral Historian Trina Walker. The #VirtualAgCamp was done in partnership with PVAMU 4-H with funding from the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. |
Get Involved with B FTXWe’re missing U. No matter your economic level, U can add value to the lives of those we serve.
U have the heart of PHILANTHROPY but how will U go from the DESIRE to the ACTION? The obvious way is to give money, which is GREAT and VERY APPRECIATED, but U can share other resources that U have as well!! Our DESIRE is to use resources to make substantive changes in COMMUNITIES we SERVE! Once U are added BUFTX is complete! Financial GiftsWe have been an anchor in the communities we serve since 1987 through small sustaining gifts. Your gifts help us change lives and communities!
